Sales professsionals talk custromer service until they’re blue in the face. Some actually mean what they say. And others let persoanl performance prove their point.
Meet Russell LoPinto, the consummate sales professional who does more than simply talk the talk and walk the walk. He owns it and runs with it!
The great Zig Ziglar once said, “If people like you, they will listen to you. If they trust you, they’ll do businss with you.”
That’s Russell captured in a mere 18 words. And Zig is a hero to him.
“I have spent my entire career endeavoring to earn the trust of my clients … one at a time, one show at a time. Because you’re only as good as your last show, and you’re only a trustworthy partner if you deliver, deliver, deliver what the client wants, expects and deserves.
Beyond being a guy you can count on, Russell is someone who recognizes no one person single-handedly achieves the end result. No one person owns a project’s success. No one person earns the thank-you handshake and the warm, appriciative smile of a happy client when the show ends. “I make it a habit to surround myself with the best of the best, the superstars in meetings and events. I can’t do this on my own but what I can do is put the strongest team on a program and, together, we can make magic happen”.

“Russ keenly assists others with finding solutions for their meetings & events production challenges. Each time I would bring a crazy challenge to him, he would take it on and wrestle with it until the solution became evident. Sometimes it was a logistics issue, other times it was a missing resource, and many times it was pricing. Each time, Russ would work the problem until we were happy with the outcome.”
Serveral years ago, Girl Scouts of the USA had a unique issue. Its membership was in decline and attendance at its National Convention was slowly shrinking. GSUSA and Russell analyzed the problem and determined the adults were dictating the show’s design and meeting when it needed to be for the kids and by the kids. We knew that had to change.
As a solution, the “script was flipped”, as they say, to make the girls the center of attension. The younger ones drove trhe creative and messaging around what it means to be a Girl Scout. The look and feel of the Convention as the girls worked as a committee to help develop content and be creative with every design. [That alone should have merited a skill-building badge]
The production challenge was holding a 3,500-person Business Session in a section of the convention hall, then completely turning that room in less than four hours to accommodate a 15,000-person Opening General Session. This was a huge, logistical task. Russ helped lead the team to a solution that ultimately earned him MPI’s 2017 Event Designer of the Year Award.
